Umbraco
MSQ DX is an Umbraco Platinum Partner with 15 years of enterprise CMS delivery
- 15 year partnership
- Umbraco Community Sustainability Team
- 30+ Umbraco enterprise websites
MSQ DX has held Umbraco Platinum Partner status since 2010, one of the longest-standing Umbraco Platinum partnerships in the UK. We bring more than 15 years of continuous platform specialisation and a certified team led by Umbraco MVP Jonathan Wood, with 1 Umbraco Master and 2 Umbraco Experts among more than 500 digital experience specialists.
Our proprietary tools take time and risk out of complex builds: Nimbus, our AI-accelerated content migration tool, and DXA, our delivery accelerator.
Two things shape how we work. With Umbraco 13 reaching end-of-life on 14 December 2026, we move organisations to Umbraco 17 LTS faster and with less risk than a hand-built migration allows. And we are active where the platform is built, from our seat on Umbraco's Community Sustainability Team to the monthly Umbraco meetup we co-run in Leeds.

Looking to upgrade from Umbraco 13?
Umbraco 13 ends on 14 December 2026. We make the move to 17 LTS straightforward.
Umbraco 13 reaches end-of-life on 14 December 2026. After that date it receives no security patches, no bug fixes and no support. The practical deadline is earlier still: Umbraco 13 runs on .NET 8, which Microsoft stops supporting on 10 November 2026, so we plan to the November date.
The recommended destination is Umbraco 17 LTS, released in November 2025 and supported until November 2028. For most sites already on Umbraco 13 this is a direct path, and the editor experience in 17 is an incremental change rather than a wholesale relearn.
Nimbus moves large content sets across with far less manual effort, which shortens the timeline and cuts the error rate. DXA gives the build a tested starting point. On the Marshalls replatform, Nimbus migrated 763 content items in an eight-week window with zero errors and no loss of SEO, and reduced migration costs by 28%.
Proven across regulated and complex sectors
We've built Umbraco sites across financial services, healthcare, manufacturing and professional services, for organisations including Asda Money, Morgan Advanced Materials, NHS Blood and Transplant, Simpson Millar and Turner & Townsend. Marshalls runs on a complex Umbraco Cloud implementation we deliver, combining custom search, commerce and personalisation.
Asda Money, in financial services, came to us for a build where compliance and governance mattered as much as performance; the work delivered a 109% increase in non-brand organic sessions alongside gains in form submissions and product-page engagement. The Marshalls replatform drove a 92% increase in B2C sample requests. Over 15 years we have delivered more than 30 Umbraco enterprise websites.
Sustainability that is measured, not asserted
Our Head of Sustainability, Neil Clark, sits on Umbraco's Community Sustainability Team, one of a small number of agency representatives helping shape how the platform measures and reduces the carbon footprint of Umbraco websites. We co-created the open-source umbraco.community.sustainability package, now used across the Umbraco community to estimate page-level emissions.
Lower-carbon websites are lighter, which means they load faster, rank better and cost less to run. As part of B Corp certified MSQ, we provide emissions data alongside the build, so for organisations with Net Zero commitments or ESG reporting obligations, sustainability is something you can measure rather than something we simply claim.
Active in the Umbraco community
We co-run UmbLeeds, the Umbraco Leeds meetup, which has brought the community together on the first Thursday of most months for more than ten years, across in-person, hybrid and social events. We have spoken at Codegarden, Umbraco's annual conference, and we contribute packages and improvements back to the platform.
Our team includes Umbraco MVP Jonathan Wood, who leads our technical thinking, alongside strategic subject-matter experts Ibrar Hussain and John Prior who shape platform strategy across complex engagements. This kind of continuous involvement keeps our teams close to where Umbraco is heading, which is the difference between implementing the platform and helping shape it.
AI-ready Umbraco, without vendor lock-in
We position every Umbraco build for the AI era through the platform's "Bring Your Own AI" approach. Rather than locking clients into embedded features, Umbraco's Model Context Protocol makes the CMS accessible to any AI client, so organisations keep control of their AI strategy as it evolves. We advise on both the MCP platform approach for technically mature teams and marketplace AI packages for immediate editor value, matched to each client's needs. Our Umbraco MVP, Jonathan Wood, and Umbraco subject matter experts lead our technical thinking here.

The friendly CMS that plays well with others—and delivers enterprise-grade results.
Composable architecture that connects your stack
Our Umbraco implementations connect content management with the wider digital estate: CRM, marketing automation, search and Azure services. We build on composable, API-first principles using the Management API foundation, so platforms can evolve without wholesale replacement. This suits organisations planning for Umbraco Compose and content orchestration across distributed sources.
Managed services and long-term partnership
Our relationship with clients rarely ends at launch. We provide ongoing managed services with tiered support, proactive version management, performance and security monitoring, and quarterly strategic reviews, so platforms keep pace with the business rather than drifting toward the next emergency upgrade.
Why our Umbraco partnership matters
Our credentials sit behind every engagement: Umbraco Platinum Partner since 2010, led by an Umbraco MVP with 1 Umbraco Master and 2 Umbraco Experts among a team of more than 500; B Corp certified; ISO 27001 certified; Cyber Essentials Plus. As part of MSQ, we bring strategy, data, performance marketing and creative capability alongside technical delivery, with teams across DACH, the UK and the US.
We recommend Umbraco when it genuinely fits, drawing on platform-agnostic expertise across our wider partnership portfolio. When Umbraco is the right choice, our 15+ years of delivery and active community contribution de-risk the work.

Our Most Asked Questions
When does Umbraco 13 reach end-of-life?
Umbraco 13 reaches end-of-life on 14 December 2026. After that date it receives no security patches, no bug fixes and no official support. The practical deadline is earlier still, because Umbraco 13 runs on .NET 8, which Microsoft stops supporting on 10 November 2026. We advise planning to the November date, which gives you a clear margin rather than a scramble in the final weeks.
Can we move straight from Umbraco 13 to Umbraco 17?
Yes. For most sites already on Umbraco 13, the move to Umbraco 17 LTS is a direct path rather than a step through intermediate versions. Content and structure carry across, and the day-to-day editing experience in Umbraco 17 is an incremental change for your team rather than a wholesale relearn, so editor retraining is light. Umbraco 17 LTS is supported until November 2028, which gives you a stable foundation for the next cycle.
How long does an Umbraco 13 to 17 migration take?
It depends on the size of your site, the complexity of your integrations, and how much you choose to modernise along the way. A straightforward upgrade is considerably faster than a full rebuild. The reliable way to get a timeline for your specific build is our free EOL assessment, which looks at your current site and the work involved before you commit to anything. As a reference point, our Nimbus tool migrated 763 content items for Marshalls in an eight-week window.
What is Nimbus?
Nimbus is our AI-accelerated content migration tool. It moves large content sets between platforms and versions with far less manual effort than a hand-built migration, which shortens timelines and cuts the error rate. On the Marshalls replatform it migrated 763 content items in eight weeks with zero errors and no loss of SEO, and reduced migration costs by 28%. For sites with large or complex content estates, it is the difference between a migration measured in months and one measured in weeks.
What does the free Umbraco 13 EOL assessment involve?
We review your current Umbraco 13 build, identify the work involved in moving to Umbraco 17 LTS, and give you a realistic timeline and approach against the December 2026 deadline. It tells you where you stand and what your options are, with no obligation to proceed. The earlier you book it, the more choice you keep over timing and budget.
What makes MSQ DX different from other Umbraco partners?
We have held Umbraco Platinum Partner status since 2010, our team is led by Umbraco MVP Jonathan Wood, and we are active in the community: we co-run the Umbraco Leeds meetup, which has met monthly for more than ten years, and our Head of Sustainability sits on Umbraco's Community Sustainability Team. We pair that platform depth with the wider capability of MSQ, including strategy, data and performance marketing, and we keep our advice platform-agnostic, recommending Umbraco when it genuinely fits.
What is Umbraco Engage?
Umbraco Engage is the platform's marketing suite for first-party analytics, A/B testing and personalisation, with data held on your own server rather than with a third party. That makes it well suited to regulated sectors such as financial services and healthcare, where data ownership and privacy matter. We implement Engage where measurement and personalisation are priorities, and integrate it with the rest of your stack so insight feeds back into the build.
What does your managed service include?
Our managed service covers tiered support, proactive version and security management, performance monitoring, and quarterly strategic reviews. The aim is to keep your platform evolving alongside the business rather than drifting toward the next emergency upgrade. For Umbraco 13 clients, that includes planning the move to Umbraco 17 LTS on your timeline rather than against the deadline.
